CRL gathers and provides information here about commercial and open access digital resources of interest to the CRL community. This information is intended to inform library decisions on investment in electronic resources and related services.
Irish Historical Newspapers
Irish Historical Newspapers provides access to a collection of fully searchable newspapers from Irish Newspaper Archives, Ltd in Dublin.
The regional and national titles found in the collection provide reports of national and international news and events between 1738-2004.

Latin American Newsstream
This database (formerly "Latin American Newsstand") provides access to current content and the past two decades for more than 130 full text news sources in Spanish, Portuguese and English from across Central and South America. It also contains content from wire services and regional magazines.
US Hispanic Newsstream
US Hispanic Newsstream (Formerly knonw as ProQuest U.S. Hispanic Newsstand) provides access to 57 Hispanic newspapers from across the U.S., covering local, regional, national, and international news with an Hispanic perspective.
IMF eLibrary
IMF publications and data are now fully available online through the IMF eLibrary. The content is divided into three collections: Books and Analytical Papers, Periodicals, and Statistics. Statistical data is fully searchable in one database compiled from data going back to the 1940s. Altogether IMF reports that the eLibrary covers more than 13000 titles and five databases.
BBC Monitoring Library
BBC Monitoring provides 24-hour reporting on developments in the world media, and also on political and economic events that have an impact upon a variety of topics.
BBC Monitoring’s full range of reporting is available via BBC Monitoring Library, a fully-searchable digital database, offering open source intelligence from more than 3,000 radio, television, press, internet and news agency sources in over 150 countries.The archives date back to 2006.Illustrated London News Historical Archive, 1842-2003
Illustrated London News Historical Archive, 1842-2003 provides access to more than 7,000 issues of the illustrated weekly newspaper.
Founded by Herbert Ingram in 1842, it became the first fully illustrated weekly newspaper covering British and world events from 1842-2003.
Morningstar Investment Research Center
The Morningstar Investment Research Center product provides access to stock market data and analysis, equity, and mutual funds information for research. The resource is a subscription database designed to service institutions, investors, and business students. In a 2010 review in The Charleston Advisor, John Schmitt called the product "a versatile investment tool that uses current data and in-depth analysis to put a value on stocks, bonds, mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, and broad markets . . . [with] analytic tools that a layman can use to understand risk and diversification."
PrivCo
The PrivCo database provides extensive private company financial information for over 500,000 companies. It includes data on private company investors, M&A deals, private firm valuations, venture capital funding, private equity deals, private and family ownership breakdowns, bankruptcies, restructuring, and more.
Manchester Medieval Sources Online
Manchester Medieval Sources Online provides access to a collection of 33 ebooks that contain texts from the terror of the Black Death to the drama of the Norman invasions.
The collection includes the following titles:

HeinOnline
HeinOnline, the online platform of legal publisher William S. Hein & Co. Inc., consists of a set of collections that provide access to digital facsimiles of a wide range of printed primary sources on the history of Anglo-American law. The content and interface of HeinOnline are reviewed here; its value for use in historical research is compared to other databases in a CRL topic guide.
LandScan
LandScan is a unique data set showing population distribution, developed by the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). In 2011, East View obtained an exclusive license for all distribution of this database outside of internal government uses. The data set is available through a subscription for each year (representing data collected in the previous year). East View also offers The LandScan Global Archive, a compilation of the historical LandScan data sets.
BMI (formerly Business Monitor International)
The BMI (formerly Business Monitor International) platform provides a wide suite of raw data, risk ratings, quarterly and/or monthly forecast reports, daily sector analysis, webinar access, analyst team interaction and project databases to evaluate, measure and identify business opportunities and environments by country worldwide. BMI has three "pillars" of service:

The online edition of The Economist or Economist.com, provides insight and opinions on international news, politics, business, finance, science and technology.
Slavery and Anti-Slavery: a transnational archive
Slavery and Anti-Slavery: a transnational archive provides access to four series devoted to the history of slavery in America, slave trade, and anti-slavery movement.

Liberty Magazine Historical Archive, 1924-1950
Liberty Magazine Historical Archive, 1924-1950 provides access to the historical archive of Liberty: A Weekly for Everybody.
Founded in 1924 by Joseph Patterson and Robert McCormick, this illustrated American magazine provided art, stories, articles, and advertisements from the United States during the Depression era and World War II.
Daily Mail Historical Archive, 1896-2004
Daily Mail Historical Archive, 1896-2004 provides access to the archive of the regular editions of the British newspaper, Daily Mail.
This archive also includes access to the Daily Mail Atlantic Edition, which was published on board the cruise ships that sailed between New York and Southampton from 1923-1931.
Picture Post Historical Archive, 1938-1957
Picture Post Historical Archive, 1938-1957 provides access to the complete archive of the British Magazine, Picture Post. It includes 38,000 pages and 95,000 articles featuring stories of British life during World War II, postwar reconstruction, and other major social and political events.
The Listener Historical Archive, 1929-1991
The Listener Historical Archive, 1929-1991 provides access to a collection of archived issues from BBC's weekly magazine, The Listener.
This weekly periodical reproduced and reported on BBC broadcasts in radio and television. The archive consists the complete 62 year run of the publication covering new films and books, major literary and musical programs, daily life during World War II, 20th Century poetry, science broadcasting, politics, and more.
EIU Country Analysis
The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Subscription Services provide several distinct sources of information on global political and economic trends, based on original EIU research and analysis. One set of subscription service products,“Country Analysis and Forecasting,” consists of data, reports and analysis from in-house researchers, freelance contributors from a range of countries worldwide, and from open sources such as the International Monetary Fund and World Bank. Country Analysis and Forecasting includes five main titles.
