LLMC-Digital

LLMC-Digital, the online platform of the nonprofit Law Library Microform Consortium, makes a wide range of legal and governmental publications available online for the use of the academic community. The content and interface of LLMC-Digital are reviewed here; its value for use in historical research is compared to other databases in a CRL topic guide.

IMF eLibrary

IMF publications and data are now fully available online through the IMF eLibrary. The content is divided into three collections: Books and Analytical Papers, Periodicals, and Statistics. Statistical data is fully searchable in one database compiled from data going back to the 1940s. Altogether IMF reports that the eLibrary covers more than 13000 titles and five databases.

Érudit

Érudit is a publishing platform for scholarly and cultural journals, books, proceedings, theses, documents, and data developed by a nonprofit Canadian publishing consortium founded in 1998. Archival runs of journal publications published prior to a moving wall of current content are available through open access, while the remainder is available through subscription.

In the Global Financial Data Series, the publisher (GFD) provides deep historical data on a wide variety of securities, price indices, exports, imports and more from around the world.  This resource is unique in that it is the only resource, at this point, that provides easy access to many historical time series.

Electronic Enlightenmentoffer expires in 12 days

Developed by University of Oxford faculty and staff under auspices of the Bodleian Libraries and first released in 2008, Electronic Enlightenment is a comprehensive collection of letters and other correspondence with scholarly annotations providing a unique viewpoint of the early modern time period and its residents. Covering Europe, the Americas, and portions of Asia from the 17th through the 19th centuries, the EE project is, in its own words, “reconnecting the first global social network”.

Bibliography of Linguistic Literature

Bibliography of Linguistics Literature Online has over 452,000 citations (as of September 2015), with 10,000 added annually. The bibliography lists journal articles, articles of conference proceedings, and other collective works as well as monographs, dissertations, and Festschrifts.  Fields of study included in the bibliography are general linguistics, English, Romance languages, and German and other languages to a lesser degree.

The search interface is available in English and German.

Cairn

Cairn aggregates scholarly journal content for social science and humanities journals published in France and Belgium.  Most of the content dates back only to 2001. As of late 2014, over 400 journals and 4,000 ebook titles (more than 300,000 full-text articles and book chapters) were included. Content is updated continually, averaging five new journal issues per day.

Since 2010, Cairn also offers e-book packages from major French, Belgian and Swiss publishers.

Klapp-Online, Bibliography of French Literatureoffer expires in 22 days

In 2012, the long-established Klapp bibliography of French literature was converted into a database covering the years 1991–2011, presented as Klapp-Online. Annual updates will be released each fall, integrated with the cumulative coverage. The publishers plan to continue with annual printed volumes as well.

Bibliographie der deutschen Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaftoffer expires in 22 days

The Bibliographie der deutschen Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaft (Bibliography of German Language and Literature Research) was started in 1957 by Hanns W. Eppelsheimer of the University of Frankfurt and continued by Clemens Köttelwesch. It is the largest and most authoritative index of published research on all areas of German philology. Long available as a hard-to-use CD-ROM, it went online earlier in 2004 as a joint project of the Frankfurt University Library and the German publisher V. Klostermann. GNARP representatives negotiated a reduced subscription price for its membership.

KLG - Kritisches Lexikon zur deutschsprachigen Gegenwartsliteraturoffer expires in 12 days

KLG - Kritisches Lexikon zur deutschsprachigen Gegenwartsliteratur provides access to contemporary German-language literature of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Founded by Heinz Ludwig Arnold and currently edited by Hermann Korte, the KLG contains more than 800 articles. Detailed essays give a survey of the author's work and influence and include bibliographies of the author's works and of secondary literature.

The KLG database is closely integrated with Munzinger's information services and is continually updated and expanded.

Independent Voices

Independent Voices, the initial collection offered by Reveal Digital (a limited liability company based in Ann Arbor, MI), is a set of digitized U.S. newspapers, journals, and magazines originally published by the alternative press during the 1960s, '70s and '80s.

Digitization of the collection is financed through tiered contributions from participating libraries over four years (2013 to 2017). The collection is available only to subscribers during the funding/digitization campaign, and for a two-year embargo period thereafter. Following this period, the collection reportedly will become open access if the funding threshold is achieved.

ORCID

ORCID provides two core functions: (1) a registry to obtain a unique identifier and manage a record of activities, and (2) APIs that support system-to-system communication and authentication. ORCID makes its code available under an open source license, and will post an annual public data file under a CC0 waiver for free download.
