African Newspapers, 1800-1922

Part of the World Newspaper Archive, created by CRL in partnership with Readex, African Newspapers, 1800-1922 provides access to more than 70 newspapers published between 1800 and 1922 in Sub-Saharan Africa. Content features English- and foreign-language titles from countries including Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

South Asian Newspapers, 1864-1922

Part of the World Newspaper Archive, created by CRL in partnership with Readex, South Asian Newspapers, 1864-1922 provides access to significant historical newspapers published in India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Among the key publications: Amrita Bazar Patrika (Calcutta), Madras Mail (Madras), Tribune (Lahore) and the Ceylon Observer (Colombo). Languages include English, Bengali, and Gujarati.

Japan Times Digital Archive

The Japan Times Digital Archive offered by East View Information Services covers the complete run (1897-2016) of this English-language daily published in Tokyo. East View's offer for this product provides access to the publisher's archive as a one-time purchase, with perpetual access rights and annual subscription for ongoing content additions (the archive will incorporate the the most recent year's content on an annual basis).

Early State Records

Early State Records, contains a compilation of the microfilm collection Records of the State of the United States of America that was created in the 1940's.

Included in the original project were: constitutions, the debates of constitutional conventions; statutes and early versions of compiled laws; journals and debates of the legislative bodies of the thirteen original states; administrative, executive, and court records; local, county, and city records; broadsides; records of the Native American nations; and newspapers covering British Colonial America and post-Revolutionary development.   The entire collection totals roughly 2,500,000 pages or images (approximately 1900 reels including at least one supplement.)

Global Press Archive

The Global Press Archive (GPA) is an initiative by East View Information Services in partnership with Stanford University Libraries and the Hoover Institution Library & Archives to digitize over 2,000 predominantly foreign-language newspaper titles ranging in coverage from the late 19th century to present times. Still in its development stage, the GPA reportedly will digitally preserve and make searchable "potentially 25 million pages of newspaper content" over several years.

HeinOnline, the online platform of legal publisher William S. Hein & Co. Inc., consists of a set of collections that provide access to digital facsimiles of a wide range of printed primary sources on the history of Anglo-American law. The content and interface of HeinOnline are reviewed here; its value for use in historical research is compared to other databases in a CRL topic guide.
