Research Source from Adam Matthew Digital provides digital access to collections selected from the microfilm collection of Adam Matthew Publications (http://www.ampltd.co.uk/ [14]). Adam Matthew Digital has digitized the complete backfile "vault" of AMP, and intends to release the content via coherent collection modules. Modules will be organized by region or theme and will be released over a three-year period (2018-2020).

According to the publisher (conversation of 15 February 2018), the first four modules for 2018 contain 21 separate microfilm collections (2703 reels; 2.2 million images). For details on the microfilm collections included in the Area Studies collections, see the Appendix.

According to the publisher, when completed, the 11 modules will contain 96 collections, with approximately 8 million pages.

Delivery:

According to the publisher, the platform on which Research Source will be hosted will not be as robust as other full-featured collections of Adam Matthew (the latter of which have often been in full color, sourced from original print content, with rich metadata). Contents will retain the original microfilm arrangement.

Terms:

According to the publisher, pricing will be offered at flat rates per collection, with no further hosting fees. Prices vary according to the size of the collection.

Strengths and Weaknesses:

It is not certain as yet how Adam Matthew is dealing with rights clearance or perpetual access to content sourced from national archival institution (e.g., UK National Archives, British Library, etc).
