JSTOR - Additional Collection 2: Struggles for Freedom in Southern Africa

This collection documents liberation movements in the southern African countries of Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe with access to more than 17,000 digital objects such as oral histories, speeches, nationalist publications, fully digitized books, journals, and pamphlets. Theses materials address topics such as colonial rule, dispersion of exiles, international intervention, and worldwide networks that supported successive generations of resistance within Southern Africa.

JSTOR - Additional Collection 1: African Cultural Heritage Sites and Landscapes

This collection brings together more than 30,000 digital objects of visual, contextual, and spatial documentation of African heritage sites and rock art sites. The materials include photographs, 3D models, GIS data sets, site plans, aerial and satellite photography, excavation reports, travelogues, and other scholarly research that will be of use to students and scholars in anthropology, archaeology, cultural studies, heritage preservation, and architectural studies. Documented heritage sites include Lalibela, Ethiopia; Timbuktu, Mali; and Elmina, Ghana. In addition, rock art sites cover over thirty countries across the continent. Funding for this collection has come from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Arcadia Fund.

World Biographical Information System (WBIS) Online

The microfiche edition of K. G. Saur's Biographical Archives has been digitized and issued as a group of  databases known as the World Biographical Information System (WBIS) Online. Reference works including biographical lexicons, encyclopedias, and monographs dating from the 16th century through the 1990s are the sources of biographical entries and articles on more than five million people from various countries from the 4th millennium B.C. to the late 20th century.

Verfasser-Datenbank

Launched in 2012, Verfasser-Datenbank (Database of Authors) features articles on literary authors in the German-speaking world from the Middle Ages to present. The database combines four literary studies reference works for a total of over 20,000 articles: Die deutsche Literatur des Mittelalters, Deutscher Humanismus 1480-1520, Frühe Neuzeit in Deutschland 1520-1620, and the Killy-Literaturlexikon.

Verfasser-Datenbank is intended to be updated regularly, with ongoing revision of Literatur des Mittelalters (German Literature of the Middle Ages) overseen by an academic advisory board. ProQuest Historical American Jewish Newspapers

ProQuest is now offering four new historical ethnic newspaper titles through their Historical Newspapers database platform: The American Hebrew & Jewish Messenger (1857–1922), The American Israelite (1854–1922), The Jewish Exponent (1887–1990), and The Jewish Advocate (1905–90). Parker Library on the Web

This significant collection of medieval manuscripts accumulated by Archbishop Matthew Parker and housed in the library of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, has been digitized in a joint project between the College, Cambridge University, and Stanford University, completed in 2009. The database is maintained by Stanford and distributed exclusively through Otto Harrassowitz GmbH & Co.

Joint Publications Research Service (JPRS), 1957-1994, released by Readex (a division of NewsBank) in 2011, is an English-language archive of translations of foreign scientific, technical, and social science materials. Produced by the U.S. Joint Publications Research Service, a government agency that translates a range of foreign-language materials, JPRS includes monographs, reports, serials, journal and newspaper articles, and radio and television broadcasts from around the world. JPRS is also the largest single producer of English language translations in the world and has generated four million pages from more than 130,000 reports.
