National Security Archive Virtual Reading Room

The National Security Archive's Virtual Reading Room provides access to a collection of primary-source documents the National Security Archive has published. Documents in the collections include documents on major topics in international affairs. NSA has secured these documents through Freedom of Information and declassification requests to more than 200 offices and agencies of the U.S. government. 

As of November 2018, the Virtual Reading Room provides access to 3778 documents.

Global Press Archive

The Global Press Archive (GPA) is an initiative by East View Information Services in partnership with Stanford University Libraries and the Hoover Institution Library & Archives to digitize over 2,000 predominantly foreign-language newspaper titles ranging in coverage from the late 19th century to present times. Still in its development stage, the GPA reportedly will digitally preserve and make searchable "more than 30 million pages of newspaper content" over several years.

Early Arabic Printed Books from the British Library, 1475-1900

Early Arabic Printed Books from the British Library, 1475-1900 is a full-text searchable digital collection of early printed books in Arabic script.  This collection covers Islamic and Christian literature, law, science, mathematics, astrology, alchemy, medicine, geography, travel, history, chronicles, and literature.  It also includes European translations of Arabic works and Arabic translations of Christian religious works.

The collection will be available in three modules:

The Violations Documentation Center in Syria (VDC) maintains the VDC database to provides access to the information gathered by the organization regarding human rights violations in Syria. The database is openly accessible to the public and is updated on a monthly basis.

Rutas del Conflicto

A project of the Centro Nacional de Memoria Histórica, the Universidad del Rosario, in Bogotá, and ColombiaCheck.com, this database provides information about armed conflict in Colombia. The project further aims to involve survivors of the conflict and to connect internet users to the dynamics of a war that took place in regions distant from large cities.

Rutas del Conflicto is mostly run by students and journalists from Universidad del Rosario.

The ICPSR data repository includes social science data and related documentation from commercial and non-commercial sources.  It is an archive of more than 500,000 files of public opinion research data and other ares of the social sciences, relating to politics, education, aging, criminal justice, substance abuse, terrorism, and a multitude of other fields.

FT coverage of financial markets and interests is global, with extensive coverage of Western Europe, North America, China and Japan, South and Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. FT was one of the first newspaper publishers to successfully charge for access to its website.

Publishers Weekly Digital Archive provides digital access to issues published from 1872 to 2013.  Material is reported to be provided in its original context, including advertisements.  It includes approximately 200,000 book reviews, publishing news, book trade statistics, and bestseller lists from 1895 forward.

Portico

Portico is a service of the not-for-profit  organization ITHAKA. Portico preserves digital publications such as e-journal articles, e-books, and digitized historical collections. Portico maintains that content in a "dark," or offline archive, to be made accessible to eligible libraries if and when the content becomes unavailable from its publisher. The purpose of Portico is to protect library and publisher investment in e-content by ensuring the long-term accessibility of that content to their communities.

World Legal Information Institute

Open access site that provides access to databases located on the following Legal Information Institutes: AustLII; BAILII; CanLII; HKLII; LII (Cornell); and PacLII. The resource includes over 270 databases from 48 jurisdictions in 20 countries are included in the initial release of WorldLII. Databases of case-law, legislation, treaties, law reform reports, law journals, and other materials are included.

Smithsonian Collections Online

Gale is working with the Smithsonian Institution to expand access to archival content on selected materials held at various Smithsonian repositories, including: the Smithsonian Libraries, Dibner Library of the History of Science and Technology, the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Library, and the National Museum of American History's Archives Center and Library.
