African American Communities

African American Communities provides access to primary source materials documenting race relations across social, political, cultural and religious perspectives in the United States from 1863-1986.  This collection focuses on Atlanta, Chicago, St Louis, Brooklyn, and towns and cities in North Carolina, and provides multiple views of the African American community through personal diaries and scrapbooks, pamphlets, newspapers and periodicals, correspondence, official records and in-depth oral histories.

American Broadsides and Ephemera, Series 1, offers images of approximately 15,000 broadsides printed between 1820 and 1900 and 15,000 pieces of ephemera printed between 1749 and 1900. The content was digitized from originals in the collections of the American Antiquarian Society.

Arcadian Library Online presents ca. 400 items ("more than 90,000 pages") of content sourced from the privately-owned Arcadian Library, whose collection of ca. 10,000 items focus on the Levant and "the shared cultural heritage of Europe and the Arab World" (publisher's site). Archives of Human Sexuality and Identity

Archives of Human Sexuality and Identity is a three part collection which will provide access to documents (government and non-government), grassroots newsletters and journals, periodicals, literature, diaries, personal papers, and ephemeral material related to the LGBTQ movement in North America and beyond.

Diversity and Dissent: Civil Society in 20th Century America is a thematically-driven digitization initiative by Reveal Digital to digitize diverse material along the themes of civil society: items from non-governmental/non-commercial organizations that supported gender and race equality, workers rights, and other issues that challenged social norms in 20th Century America.

North American Women's Letters and Diaries is a collection of approximately 150,000 pages of letters and diaries from Colonial times to 1950, including 7,000 pages of previously unpublished manuscripts—all in electronic format for the first time.
