    History

Datafolha was created in 1983, as research and information department of the media conglomerate Grupo Folha da Manhã to provide data and serve as a planning tool for the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo and other vehicles of the parent company. Grupo Folha is one of the main media conglomerates in Brazil. It publishes the mass-market newspaper Folha de S.Paulo, the Brazilian content and internet services company UOL, the news website Folha.com and Brazil's largest commercial printing company (Plural), as well as other businesses.

Founded in São Paulo in 1921 as "Folha da Noite", a newspaper focused on the urban middle class; then began "Folha da Manhã" (1925) and "Folha da Tarde" (1949). The three newspapers were merged in 1960 to create Folha de S.Paulo
