    History

    Esri was founded in 1969 as Environmental Systems Research Institute by Jack and Laura Dangermond "as a small research group focused on land-use planning."

    In the 1970s began producing and marketing geographic information systems. 

    1982 -- Esri produced and began distribution of GIS software ARC/INFO.

    2015 - Lockheed Martin and Esri "deployed commercial software to the Amazon Web Services Commercial Cloud Services (C2S) environment for the first time with an intelligence community customer, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), in a move that enables government agencies to better share geospatial intelligence."
