The African News Agency (ANA), launched in February 2015, provides newswire reports and daily diaries in English, as well as pictures and videos. The ANA database covers politics, economics, business and markets, sports in addition to general news (including lifestyle and entertainment, courts and crime , environment, science, and health). The ANA database contains news reports beginning November 2015, with daily updates.
In March 2015, ANA acquired rights to the Sapa archive, the newswire reports from the former South African Press Association (Sapa). Sapa was the national news agency of South Africa and the major news supplier of foreign and domestic news to South African newsrooms and newspapers. The Sapa archive contains roughly 1.9 million news reports from 1998 to 31 March 2015 (the date of Sapa's closure).
ANA offers additional syndicated content from Xinhua News Agency (China), the German Press Agency, and the Associated Press.
