    Database of global news sources on finance and business; Factiva provides full-text to many major national and regional newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Globe and Mail, and The Financial Times. The resource also provides text from newswires and television and radio news transcripts.

    Factiva provdes access to U.S. and international business news aggregated from approximately 32,000 sources from 200 countries and in 28 languages. Content is updated on a continuous basis, 24 hours a day.  Of the 32,000 sources approximately 4,000 are available through Factiva on the date of original publication. Factiva has an archive that goes back to 1951. 

    The resource had same-day coverage of: The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Washington Post, The Globe and Mail, the Guardian, Les Echos, South China Morning Post, The Australian, Sydney Morning Herald, Straits Times, and The Irish Times. Factiva holds only the past two weeks of the Wall Street Journal.

    Factiva’s team of specialists mine, refine and curate content from sources around the world. Influential websites and blogs complement Factiva’s set of licensed publications. Dow Jones licenses content directly with information providers to ensure compliance with copyright law. Dow Jones’ proprietary taxonomy and is applied to all Factiva business news information services, in all formats and in all languages enabling users to identify exact content. 

    The database includes: 

    • National, international and regional newspapers--current content and archives (e.g., The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Times, The Wall Street Journal, El Pais, The Financial Times, The Guardian, etc.)
    • Magazines, journals and trade publications (e.g., Forbes, Newsweek)
    • Newswires (e.g., AFP, Reuters, Dow Jones, etc.)
    • TV or radio podcasts (e.g., BBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox , etc.)
    • Major news and business information websites, blogs and message boards
    • Company reports
    • Photo agencies (e.g., Reuters, Knight Ridder, etc.)
    • Materials on the EUR-Lex website, giving access to the law of the European Union

    In compliance with publisher agreements, each publication will have a specific coverage range and either all articles, a selection of articles, the entire article or an abstract will be indexed.

    Delivery

    For search and browsing purposes, Facitva indexes content by: Source, Author, Company, Subject, Industry, Region, Look up (free text search box), and Language. In the Factiva database, current newspapers can be browsed by selecting the "News Pages" feature.  Specific newspapers can be selected and browsed by date (up to the last two weeks) and by section.

    Articles can be downloaded from the database but there is a limit to the number of documents that can be downloaded per day. Developers can access Factiva’s news database through an API.
