Collection Content
Irish Historical Newspapers provides access to a collection of 16 fully searchable newspapers from (or relating to) Ireland, spanning the years 1738–2004. The regional and national titles in the collection (three daily and 13 weekly publications) cover news events of national and international importance. Significant topics covered (as suggested by the publisher) include:
- the Irish Rebellion of 1798
- the Great Famine between 1845 and 1852
- Irish Revolutionary Period between 1912 and 1922
- Anglo-Irish Treaty
- War of Independence
- the Irish Civil War and establishment of both the Irish Free State and Republic, and of the State of Northern Ireland
Irish Historical Newspapers contains 16 of the 74 titles (as of April 2017) from Irish Newspaper Archives Ltd. Irish Historical Newspapers is offered in partnership with Readex, which represents to be the exclusive seller in North America for this product.
Delivery
The content in this collection is hosted by Irish Newspaper Archives, Ltd in Dublin, and made available via their platform. INA utilizes the Olive Software platform, which allows basic and advanced searching; search limiters and refinement; thumbnail and article snippets in search results; date and issue browsing; page- and article-level viewing; article clipping (saving to "my collection"); and downloading of articles and pages. Full-issue downloads do not appear to be available.
The INA platform is compatible with Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Safari.

Terms
Access to Irish Historical Newspapers is through a one-time purchase fee. A 3% annual hosting fee may apply after year 1, paid directly to Irish Newspaper Archives Ltd who is hosting the content. "Perpetual" access is conditional on ongoing payments of the annual hosting fee.
A subscription option is not available via Irish Historical Newspapers.
