Overview
The AmericasBarometer database includes open access datasets, as well as subscription-based "merged datasets", from public opinion surveys conducted periodically in Latin America and the Caribbean beginning in the 1970s, focusing on matters of governance, politics, and democracy in the region.

The database includes data from AmericasBarometer surveys from the years 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014. The surveys are based on information from national censuses conducted in prior years.
Terms
Subscribers have access to all of the AmericasBarometer survey data in both SPSS and STATA formats, and access to three types of merged databases:
- single files with data for all countries for a given survey wave.
- single-country cross-time merged data bases.
- Cross-time and cross national merged data including the core items from 2004 through 2014.
Non-subscribers may download only the SPSS and Stata country-based survey files "without restriction, limitation or charge, so long as each user agrees to the terms of the current "click license." Those terms ask users to adhere to all relevant human subjects protections, and not to pass along the data to third parties."
