The ISI Web of Knowledge platform provides a unique single, unified environment through which researchers can seamlessly access different types of information: journal literature, proceedings papers, patents, chemical reactions and compounds, as well as evaluated web content. In addition, the content found within the platform is multidisciplinary, ensuring that scholars are not restricted along subject-specific lines.

Information on ISI Web of Knowledge platform, provided by Thomson Reuters:

The ISI Web of Knowledge platform provides a single point of access to only that information relevant to the scholarly and research-oriented communities. Journals are thoroughly reviewed by editorial experts before being selected for inclusion in the database. Proceedings are selected with a focus on maintaining a multidisciplinary, international collection of over 2,500 conferences annually. Patent information is just as comprehensive, collected from 40 different patent-issuing authorities – over 1.5 million patents annually – in all technologies. Chemical information, chemical reactions and compounds reported in the most important 280 organic chemistry journals, must also meet a set of criteria before being selected for inclusion, these criteria having been determined by Thomson Reuters in conjunction with major pharmaceutical companies and universities.

Web of Science is updated with approximately 25,000 articles and 700,000 cited references added each week.

Science – covering over 6,200 international journals and highly cited book series in over 170 subject categories – available back to 1900.
Social Sciences – covering over 1,750 international journals and highly cited book series in 50 subject categories – available back to 1954.
