The collections include digitized copies of old and rare books from the 15th Century onwards, newspapers like Bombay Chronicle, Bombay Times and others, manuscripts, journals, maps and government publications.
Granth Sanjeevan provides access to over 25 million pages of digitized material from The Asiatic Society of Mumbai. The collections include digitized copies of over 20,000 books from the 15th Century onwards, newspapers like Bombay Chronicle, Bombay Times and others, manuscripts, journals, maps and government publications. According to their website, 15,000 books have been classified as "rare and valuable."
The Asiatic Society of Mumbai reports on their website that resources will continuously be added, and it currently holds: "Some of the unique resources it currently hosts include an almost complete run of the Bombay Chronicle (1913-1959), and select volumes from nineteenth-century Bombay newspapers: the Bombay Courier, the Bombay Gazette and the Bombay Times. Nearly two thousand manuscripts and ten thousand books from the Society collection are available to researchers on Granth Sanjeevani. Government publications and reports from the nineteenth century can also be accessed."
The public is able to explore the items that are available on Granth Sanjeevani without registration. According to the Granth Sanjeevani FAQ, to receive services – including reading items online and bookmarking favorite item, you need to register and purchase the 365 days membership subscription.
The content in Granth Sanjeevani is accessible via login to registered members. Institutional membership is available.
The content is searchable via an Advanced Search tool.
According to their website: "There is a possibility to search for all of the keywords, some of them or for an exact phrase. There's also a field for excluding terms from your search. You can then limit the search by subject, content type or date and control how the results are sorted – the default is by relevance but you can also sort them by upload date or published date. Once the search results are displayed, you can filter the search by a range of criteria, such as publication date, content type or subject category. If you select any of these filters, then the listing will change to show the items you’ve selected. You can choose how many results are displayed and how they are sorted (e.g. by relevance or by date)."
