According to the publisher, the archive makes accessible 4.5 million pages of research material across a wide range of disciplines.
With content selected from the collection of the South Asia Research Foundation (SARF), the South Asia Archive represents a diverse collection of materials relating to South Asian culture and society; politics and government; industry and urban planning; science, technology & medicine; and other subjects. According to the publisher's website, the collection includes complete runs (where possible) of more than 200 journals in a range of subjects; books and series; reports and government publications; and a collection of Indian film booklets produced 1930–1949. Content is primarily in English, though as much as thirty percent of the content may include vernacular languages, particularly Bengali and Sanskrit.
