Thomson Reuters is a publicly traded, corporation based in Toronto and New York, with extensive holdings in finance, news media, scientific publishing, and investment and trading technologies.  The company was formed in 2008 with the acquisition by Toronto-based Thomson Corporation of London-based Reuters Group PLC. Thomson Reuters traces its origins to the establishment of Sweet & Maxwell legal publishing in London in 1799.

The company's library and research products are managed through Gale (formerly part of Thomson Learning). 

Cengage Learning employs more than 5,500 people in 20 countries, and its annual revenue is approximately $1.5 billion.

Brill is an independent publishing company, founded in 1683.  Based in Leiden, with offices in Leiden and Boston, Brill publishes journals, new books, and reference works in the humanities, social sciences, international law and (to a lesser extent) science.  In addition, Brill is a provider of primary source materials online and on microform for researchers in the humanities and social sciences.
