CRL gathers and provides information here about commercial and open access digital resources of interest to the CRL community. This information is intended to inform library decisions on investment in electronic resources and related services.
BBC Monitoring Library
BBC Monitoring provides 24-hour reporting on developments in the world media, and also on political and economic events that have an impact upon a variety of topics.BBC Monitoring’s full range of reporting is available via BBC Monitoring Library, a fully-searchable digital database, offering open source intelligence from more than 3,000 radio, television, press, internet and news agency sources in over 150 countries.The archives date back to 2006.
The EUREKA.CC database provides access to more than 2,500 news and current event sources from North America, Latin America, and Europe. These sources range from large newspapers, such as Le Monde and Le Figaro, to small regional newspapers, as well as other formats such as newswires, specialized periodicals, and radio and television transcripts. A subscription includes all of the titles as a group, with pricing levels based on the number of simultaneous users.
Database of global news sources on finance and business; Factiva provides full-text to many major national and regional newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Globe and Mail, and The Financial Times. The resource also provides text from newswires and television and radio news transcripts.
Global Press Archive
The Global Press Archive is an initiative by East View Information Services in partnership with Stanford University Libraries and the Hoover Institution Library & Archives to digitize over 2,000 predominantly foreign-language newspaper titles ranging in coverage from the late 19th Century to present times.
Launched in 2016, the Global Press Archive features stand-alone titles and databases aggregating multiple titles from specific regions and time periods, and includes over 1,500 newspapers, 450,000 issues, and 4.7 million pages of content, with 17 countries and 12 languages represented. IMF publications and data are now fully available online through the IMF eLibrary. The content is divided into three collections: Books and Analytical Papers, Periodicals, and Statistics. Statistical data is fully searchable in one database compiled from data going back to the 1940s. Altogether IMF reports that the eLibrary covers more than 13000 titles and five databases.
International Newsstream (formerly ProQuest International Newsstand) offers access to current and recent retrospective content for more than 8000 news sources from outside the U.S. and Canada, including prominent titles such as The Bangkok Post, El Norte, Financial Times, The Guardian, Jerusalem Post, South China Morning Post, The Daily Telegraph, Asian Wall Street Journal, and the BBC Monitoring series for various world regions. Subscribing libraries can also select individual titles or a customized group.
Latin American Newsstream
This database (formerly "Latin American Newsstand") provides access to current content and the past two decades for more than 130 full text news sources in Spanish, Portuguese and English from across Central and South America. It also contains content from wire services and regional magazines.
Middle East & African Newsstream
This digital collection (formerly Middle East Newsstand) provides access to the current content and past few decades of more than 150 news sources from across the Arab World, Israel, Southwest Asia, and Africa. Product coverage includes newspapers,wire feeds, trade journals, and select additional sources. Content is represented in English and French (Arabic sources are not included).
US Hispanic Newsstream
US Hispanic Newsstream (Formerly knonw as ProQuest U.S. Hispanic Newsstand) provides access to 57 Hispanic newspapers from across the U.S., covering local, regional, national, and international news with an Hispanic perspective.
The Wall Street Journal
Digital subscription to The Wall Street Journal provides unlimited access to www.wsj.com, a business-focused, international online newspaper. It is published by Dow Jones & Company.
Washington Post Online
National Digital Edition of www.washingtonpost.com provides national and world news on the web for computers, tablets and smart phones.
World News Connection
The World News Connection (WNC) contains English-language transcriptions of news articles from selected non-U.S. sources, generated by the U.S. Open Source Center. WNC began distribution in 1995 as a successor product to the Foreign Broadcast Information Service Daily Reports. The service was discontinued on December 31, 2013.
The WNC offered by East View Information Services offers access to 856,013 items dating from 1995 to 2013. The archive is full-image with fully searchable text.
